Adoption -About. com Sass was adopted in 1947. She has been reunited with her maternal and paternal birth families since January, 1996. In 1997, a birth sister she had never known gave her away at her wedding. Nancy "Sass" Stanfeild Says, "It's a new age: adoptees and birth parents are seeking reunion; laws relating to sealed records are being challenged, and birth and adoptive parents are sharing in the future of the newborn in open adoption. I encourage you to use our message board and chat room to ask questions, offer suggestions and exchange views. Together, we will delve into the wealth of knowledge and experience shared on the Web to increase our understanding and ability to meet the challenges of this unique family unit. Every voice is important. Please let me hear yours."

Bastards Nation Bastard Nation advocates for the civil and human rights of adult citizens who were adopted as children. Millions of North Americans are prohibited by law from accessing personal records that pertain to their historical, genetic and legal identities. Such records are held by their governments in secret and without accountability, due solely to the fact that they were adopted.

Sun Flowers Birthmothers I have started a Birthmom's mailing list that serves as a support group for other Birthmom's like myself. It is a place that we can talk about our feelings about giving our children up, our search efforts, our reunion issues , and also a place that we can talk about the other thousand things going on in our lives.! We want it to be a place that other birthmoms will feel comfortable. If you are a bmom, I would like to invite you to join our group. It comes to you by way of e/mail... It can NOT be read by anyone that is not a subscriber and it is only for birthmoms. If you would like to join us, please drop me a note and I will subscribe you... (And it is FREE)

CERA  /Adoption  Cross Roads Every effort should be made to keep families together. Adoptees and birthparents should have access to all identifying information about each other when the adoptee reaches the age of majority. Adoptees should have access to identifying information about the birthparents with the adoptive parent's permission before the age of majority. Birthfamilies and adoptive families should have the option for continuing contact at all times for the benefit of the adoptee. Medical information should be available to all parties involved in an adoption at all times. Every effort should be made to educate the public and mental health professionals about the needs of those involved in adoption in order to make adoption practices more humane. Every effort should be made to change the laws in the United States and abroad so that the laws will be consistent with the above beliefs.
